My journey: From Curious Child to IT Management Leader
Ever since I can remember, I've been driven by an insatiable curiosity. As a child, I was the one who always took things apart—not out of mischief, but out of a genuine desire to understand how they worked. My parents quickly learned to hide the screwdrivers, but they also encouraged my curiosity, knowing it was the start of a lifelong passion.
Growing up in India, I pursued a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. It seemed like a practical choice at the time, blending my love for building and problem-solving. However, during my studies, I realized that while I enjoyed the principles of engineering, I was more fascinated by the emerging world of technology. This led me to the United States, where I pursued a Master's degree in Construction Planning and Management at California State University, Fullerton. Here, I found my true calling—combining technology with management to create efficient, effective solutions.
My professional journey began at MSoft Solutions in India, where I stepped into the role of Systems Analyst. It was my first real taste of the IT world, and I was hooked. I learned the importance of meticulous documentation, rigorous testing, and the critical role of quality assurance. But more than anything, I learned the value of teamwork and clear communication.
When I moved to the United States, I took on roles that allowed me to expand my skills and knowledge. At Symantec Corporation, I worked as an IT Product Owner, where I learned the nuances of managing test plans and ensuring software quality. It was a challenging role, but it taught me resilience and the importance of attention to detail.
STC Health was a pivotal point in my career. As an IT Product Owner, I was responsible for building a robust project management capability focused on delivering projects within scope and on time. This role allowed me to apply my analytical skills to real-world problems, creating solutions that streamlined processes and improved efficiency.
My roles at Equifax and BMW were transformative. I partnered with global teams to analyze and redefine operational procedures, ensuring IT solutions aligned perfectly with business strategies. These experiences taught me the value of clear communication, meticulous planning, and the importance of a collaborative approach in achieving project goals.
Working at Orange bees and Walmart, I took on leadership roles, guiding teams through Agile development processes, managing user story backlogs, and ensuring seamless coordination between development and QA teams. These positions solidified my belief in the power of teamwork and the importance of fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
Throughout my career, I have always been driven by a passion for solving problems and a commitment to delivering exceptional user experiences. Whether it's leading a team through a complex project, analyzing user stories to prepare precise test cases, or writing SQL queries for data manipulation, I find joy in the process of transforming requirements on paper into tangible, impactful solutions.
Looking back, my journey from a curious child to an IT professional has been a series of discoveries, challenges, and continuous learning. Every role I've taken on has been a steppingstone, each project a new adventure. I'm proud of the path I've taken and excited about the future, knowing that with each new challenge comes an opportunity to innovate, improve, and create value.
